Samsung Galaxy Gear returns topping 30%?

It is still early days for the smartphone market and there are bound to be a few trials and tribulations as well as outright failures before manufacturers get it right. The early hype of this new class of products is, as is so often the case, not yet meeting the expectations of many of its customers. Case in point: The Samsung Galaxy Gear. According to a leaked document by Geek.com, Best Buy locations in the U.S. are seeing returns of more than 30% for Samsung’s first take on the smartwatch.

The leaked memo is asking for input from Samsung employees on site in a bid to find out why Best Buy is seeing such high returns.

Samsung has publicly said that the Galaxy Gear has received a “warm response.” But behind closed doors, even company executives have admitted that it “lacks something special.” It appears that customers agree.

Samsung just announced this week that it will soon be extending Galaxy Gear compatibility to additional Galaxy devices. The Galaxy S4, Galaxy S III, Galaxy Note II, Galaxy S4 mini, Galaxy S4 Active, Galaxy Mega 5.8, Galaxy Mega 6.3, and Galaxy S4 zoom will all be made compatible with the smartwatch with an upcoming software update.

For its part, Samsung has yet to release any Galaxy Gear sales figures.
