Verizon to hold press event on July 23rd

Verizon DROIDVerizon has begun to send out press invitations for an event set to take place in New York City on July 23rd. Without mentioning any specific devices, the U.S. carrier promises to “unveil the next generation of one of [its] most popular family of devices.” Consensus suggests that the carrier will announce its new Verizon DROID lineup. If so, @evleak‘s proclaimed August 8th DROID day would likely be the day that the devices go on sale.

Three new devices, the DROID Ultra, DROID Maxx and DROID mini, are expected. All manufactured by Motorola, they have been the topic of a number of leaks in past weeks. A recent leak suggested that the larger DROID Ultra and Droid Maxx could sport 5-inch FHD (1080×1920) displays and 10MP cameras possibly with the rumoured “Clear Pixel” technology. The Ultra could come in three colours, black, white and red. The Maxx would also offer up to 2 days of battery life. As the name and leaked images imply, the DROID mini is expected to be a smaller model.

All Three Droids

All three are also expected to come with the now familiar Kevlar cross-hatch pattern seen on a number of past Motorola devices.

This all still leaves much that is unknown about all three devices. Fortunately, it appears that we won’t have to wait much longer.
