Acer unveils Tegra K1-powered Acer Chromebook 13

Acer Chromebook 13Acer has unveiled the world’s first Chromebook powered by the NVIDIA Tegra K1 chipset. It is also one of the very rare Chromebooks to come with a Full HD (1080×1920) display.

While we don’t have full specifications yet, we know that the Acer Chromebook 13 will also come with a 13.3-inch non-touch display, 802.11ac Wi-Fi, a USB 3.0 port and an HDMI output. It weighs in at 1.5 kilograms and is about 18 millimeters thick. Four variants will be offered:

  • CB5-311-T1UU: Full HD (1080×1920), 4GB of RAM, 32GB of onboard storage (US$379.99)
  • CB5-311-T9B0: Full HD (1080×1920), 2GB of RAM, 16GB of onboard storage (US$299.99)
  • CB5-311-T7NN: HD (1366×768), 2GB of RAM, 16GB of onboard storage (US$279.99)
  • OEM and education sector variant: HD (1366×768), 4GB of RAM, 16GB of onboard storage (US$329.99)

While exact battery details have not been provided, the Acer Chromebook 13 promises to deliver up to 13 hours of battery life for the HD model and 11 hours for the Full HD model.

The Acer Chromebook 13 is now available for pre-order in the U.S. ahead of a September launch. It is also scheduled to launch in a number of European countries including France, Germany and the UK but there is no word yet on availability in Canada.
