Android Device Manager updated with “Call me back” feature

Google today released an update to Android Device Manager that a new feature to make it easier to recover a lost or stolen smartphone. The service already lets you locate your device, reset your device’s screen lock PIN and remotely wipe it if it cannot be recovered. With version 1.3.8, it adds an option to set up a “Call me back” number to make it easier for anyone finding your device to get a hold of you to arrange returning it to you.

The way the new feature works is that once enabled and configured, it will display a message of your choosing as well as a convenient button to reach you at the number you designated when the device is turned on. The new version of Android Device Manager also comes with a number of bug fixes and performance improvements.

Version 1.3.8 of Android Device Manager is now available as a free download through Google Play.

Note that you can also enable the “Call me back” feature through the Android Device Manager website if the need arises.
