BlackBerry today announced that it has appointed Marty Beard as its Chief Operating Officer effective immediately. In this role, he will be responsible for cross-functional organizations, including Marketing, BlackBerry 10 Application Development, Customer Care and Quality. He will also be responsible for instituting best practices and processes.
BlackBerry Executive Chairman and CEO John Chen said, “BlackBerry continues to attract top talent to the company. Marty brings extensive experience in operations, marketing and serving customers through the best technologies and processes available.”
Beard comes to BlackBerry from LiveOps, Inc., a company offering customer service cloud applications, where he was both Chairman and CEO. He was previously President of Sybase 365 (a subsidiary of Sybase, Inc.) which provides mobile messaging and mobile commerce services, and also worked at Oracle. BlackBerry John Chen who now heads up BlackBerry was formerly CEO of Sybase.
