Early Moto G successor details?

Rumoured 2nd generation Moto GMotorola has a hit on its hands with the inexpensive but well-built and featured Moto G smartphone. It followed up the original model with an LTE variant and it now appears that a true successor is coming sometime later this year. Early details, including a picture of the new device and a few specifications, have surfaced courtesy of Spain’s Mellando no Android. If legitimate, it appears that the company will not deviate from its decent-specs-at-an-affordable-price strategy very much with the Moto G successor.

The single image we have so far shows a device that shares much in common with the more recent Moto E, including a front-facing speaker at the bottom.

As for specifications, it looks like the second generation Moto G will not be a radical departure from the first model. The new model appears set to retain a quad-core processor (likely the Qualcomm Snapdragon 400) with Adreno 305 GPU and a 4.5-inch HD (720×1280) display. The camera looks to have been upgraded to an 8MP one. The new device looks set to bear model number XT1068 (the original was the XT1032).

There is no word on when the second generation Moto G could launch but a fall launch would not be unreasonable as the original Moto G was first announced in November 2013. The early specifications suggest that Motorola could be aiming to have the Moto G successor sell for less than the original.
