Concept Sunday: Samsung Galaxy S6 concept

Samsung Galaxy S6 conceptWith the Samsung Galaxy S6 (or Project Zero?) rumours in full swing this week, it’s a perfect time to take a look at what the next Samsung flagship smartphone might look like. It would appear that the folks over at 91mobiles were thinking the same thing. They got to work and came up with the following Galaxy S6 concept.

Whereas recent rumours suggest an all-metal device, this concept is built around a metal frame but retains the faux-leather panel introduced on earlier Galaxy devices. Samsung’s Home button (with integrated fingerprint scanner) also looks set to live on for another generation of Galaxy devices.

In terms of specifications, we have the following:

  • Processor: 2.0GHz octa-core Samsung Exynos 5430
  • Operating system: Google Android 5.0 Lollipop with Samsung TouchWiz UI
  • Cellular connectivity: LTE
  • Other connectivity: 802.11 ac Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0 LE, NFC
  • Display: 5.5-inch WQHD (2560×1440)
  • RAM: 4GB
  • Internal storage: 32GB/64GB/128GB
  • Rear-facing camera: 20MP ISOCELL with dual-tone LED flash, OIS and 4K video capture
  • Front-facing camera: 5MP with wide-angle lens and BSI
  • Sensors: Heart rate
  • Battery: 3,300mAh
  • Dimensions: 7.5 millimeters thick
  • Weight: 130 grams
  • Other: Dust and water resistant

The video below shows us the new concept under a variety of angles:

It certainly all looks plausible. With Samsung typically unveiling its Galaxy S flagship smartphones in the spring, we may not have to wait too much longer to see how close this concept gets to the real thing.
