More details emerge about Sony D6503

Sony D6503 camera appThe Sony D6503 is in the news again and does appear to indeed be the oft-rumoured Sony Sirius after all. Expected at MWC 2014, we now have additional details about some of the apps that will come preinstalled courtesy of xda-developers member iRimas. If that name is familiar, it’s because it’s the same person that gave us pictures of this upcoming smartphone back in January.

This time, iRimas offers up screenshots of the 4K camera, Timeshift Video and the Creative Effect apps. The first effectively confirms that the expected 20.7MP camera will be able to capture pictures at 4K as well as video at  60fps 1080p.

In a followup post, iRimas also treats us to the lockscreen with the default music player:

It does appear more and more that the Sony D6503 will be a relatively minor update to the Xperia Z1, especially as most of the new software is also expected to make its way to the Xperia Z1 family of devices, namely the Xperia Z1, Xperia Z Ultra and Xperia Z1 Compact.

Sony could unveil the Sony D6503 later this month at MWC 2014. It should come with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor and a 5.2-inch Triluminos display. Since the pictures were taken in January, it appears that the Android version has been bumped up from Google Android 4.3 Jelly Bean to 4.4.2 KitKat. It remains to be seen if it will launch as the Xperia Z2 and if it is the same device as the one recently spotted sporting very thin bezels.
