HP launches HP Slate 6 VoiceTab II

HP Slate 6 Voice Tab IIHewlett-Packard returned to the smartphone market earlier this year with the HP Slate6 VoiceTab and HP Slate7 VoiceTab. The two phablets were designed for emerging market consumers in emerging markets looking looking for a device that meets both their smartphone and tablet needs. Less than a year later, the company has launched the HP Slate 6 VoiceTab II.

The HP Slate 6 VoiceTab II is not a major evolution over its predecessor. Along with an updated version of Android, it sports only a slighly improved rear camera.

No successor to the original HP Slate 7 Voice Tab was announced alongside the new Slate 6 model. It remains to be seen if one will follow or if HP has decided to focus on a single model.

The HP Slate 6 VoiceTab II currently appears to only be available in India where it sells for INR15,990 (about CA$295). There is no word on availability beyond India at this point.
