HTC bringing Duo Camera and BoomSound to Windows Phone with HTC W8?

HTC One (M8) announcement

Rumours last year suggested that HTC was working on a Windows Phone version of the original HTC One smartphone. Fortunately or unfortunately, the device failed to materialize. But similar rumours have now resurfaced courtesy the usually reliable @evleaks. This time, this new device, known as the HTC W8, would be based on the HTC A9, itself an unannounced mid-range device. But the HTC W8 could also bring in some features offered by the HTC One devices.

According to @evleaks, two features will make their way over to Windows Phone for the first time: The HTC Duo Camera introduced with the HTC One (M8) and BoomSound, the dual front-facing stereo speakers first introduced last year on the original HTC One.

The report adds that the HTC W8 will launch in Q3 with Verizon Wireless. Left unsaid is whether we will see it offered in other countries and by other carriers.

For its part, Verizon recently launched the Nokia Lumia Icon, a high-end smartphone packing both a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor and a 20MP PureView camera. The HTC W8 could be an interesting alternative to it.
