LG UK website confirms LG G3 specifications

LG-D855 (LG G3) specificationsJust days ago, the LG UK confirmed that the oft-rumoured LG-D855 was none other than the LG G3. It turns out that the site has also confirmed its specifications. Simply clicking on the ‘Add to Compare’ button and then proceed with the comparison to see the official LG G3 specifications. All in all, it lines up nicely with what we have seen in the past:

  • Processor: Quad-core (2.46GHz × 4) Qualcomm Snapdragon
  • Operating system: Google Android 4.4 KitKat
  • Cellular connectivity: LTE/HSPA+42Mbps/GPRS/EDGE
  • Other connectivity: A-GPS/GLONASS, 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0 LE, NFC
  • Display: 5.5-inch WQHD (2560×1440)
  • RAM: 2GB
  • Internal storage: 16GB
  • External storage: MicroSD cards
  • Rear-facing camera: 13MP
  • Battery: Removeable 3,000mAh

The only odd thing about these specifications is the claim that the LG G3 will support microSD cards up to 2TB in capacity. A closer look reveals that the claim makes sense even if the largest microSD cards top out at 128GB. According to the SD Association, the SDXC standard will support cards up to 2TB. It would appear that the LG G3 will be future-proof when it comes to microSD cards.

The 5.5-inch display size is further confirmed by a new teaser video that suggests that such a large smartphone might not be as “big and brawny” as one would expect. It promises that, “When you meet the LG G3, you just might forget you’re holding a 5.5-inch smartphone.”

It still remains to be seen if LG will release a variant with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage as some rumours have suggested. With the number of variant model numbers we have seen, it is certainly not implausible. Add that LG apparently confirmed it itself and it’s almost certain that this configuration will be announced as well.

LG will formally unveil the LG G3 on May 27. We’ll have all the details for you then (despite the fact that we know most of them already).
