LG-VC100 FCC filingSamsung has done it and it now appears that LG is about to follow in its footsteps. Rumours first surfaced back in May that LG was working on a new smartwatch with its own SIM card, allowing it make and receive calls without having to connect to another device. It now appears that this watch has gotten its FCC certification as the LG-VC100.

While many documents are still hidden away behind confidentiality requests, those that are available reveal that the LG-VC100 is a “SmartWatch + CDMA.” Digging further reveals it will operate on the CDMA2000 (BC0 and BC1) bands.

Few details are available but the images showing where the FCC details will go reveal an elliptical watch. This suggests it will not sport a round display like the LG G Watch R or a square one like the original LG G Watch but will instead have a rectangular one. Dimensions listed (57.7 by 35.5 millimeters) further support this.

The LG-VC100 looks to be headed to Verizon Wireless either later this year or by early 2015. It remains to be seen if it will launch under the LG G Watch brand or a new one.
