MOTA SmartWatch G2 now available for pre-order

MOTA SmartWatch G2MOTA, a California based company that “imagines, builds and markets highly innovative wearable and creative consumer electronics”, has announced that its latest wearable device is now available for pre-order. The MOTA SmartWatch G2 is the successor to the MOTA SmartWatch G1, the company’s first smartwatch. While very similar to the G1 in appearance, it adds a number of new features.

“The new SmartWatch provides a true hands-free experience, allowing users to perform tasks such as searching and look ups without the distraction of having to hold their phone,” said Kevin Faro, MOTA’s co-founder. “Its ultra-modern sculpted design looks beautiful anywhere, and at a cost of less than $80 its price is just as attractive.”

Like most smartwatches today, the MOTA SmartWatch G2 works best with a paired smartphone. Unlike most, it supports both Android and iOS. Among the new features of the G2 is support for both Google Now and Apple’s Siri. The addition of a microphone lets users to speak commands to the smartwatch to perform a variety of actions without having to reach for their smartphone. Among the actions that the Mota G2 will support are the ability to get weather updates, search the web and even send emails.

It also supports notifications, vibrating and displaying the caller ID on its OLED display when a call comes in for example. An Anti-Loss feature also ensures that you don’t leave your smartphone behind or that it leaves without you. An upgrade to Bluetooth 3.0 also promises better sound through the integrated speakers.

Battery life is rated at up to 180 minutes of talk time and up to 72 hours in standby mode.

The MOTA SmartWatch G2 is now available in black or white and red for pre-order for US$79.99 directly through MOTA. Orders are set to begin shipping on June 20. It is expected to land at retailers across North America in Q4.
