MTS launched its LTE network in September 2012 and has steadily been expanding it ever since. The latest Manitoban community to benefit from download speeds of up to 150Mbps from MTS is Swan Lake. It joins Dauphin, Falcon Lake, Jessica Lake, West Hawk Lake, Gimli, Hecla, Altona, Winkler, Thompson and Morden which all received LTE coverage earlier this year.
“I’m pleased that eleven more Manitoba communities will now enjoy everything MTS’s fastest wireless network has to offer,” said MTS President Kelvin Shepherd. “LTE offers data speeds that are up to ten times faster than the current HSPA+ technology, ensuring customers enjoy their new LTE smartphones to the fullest.”
Among the LTE devices offered by MTS are the Samsung Galaxy S5, Samsung Galaxy Note 3, Motorolal Moto X, BlackBerry Z30 and Apple iPhone 5S.
The MTS LTE network now reaches some 850,000 Manitobans.
