Next HTC flagship smartphone said to sport WQHD display

Rumoured HTC M8 Prime

We’ve already heard that HTC may drop the use of the HTC One (Mx) model numbers for its next flagship smartphone. Now comes speculation that HTC will unveil ths new device at Mobile World Congress 2015. The Internationl Business Times report goes on to provide a few rumoured details about it as well.

The report pulls together a number of rumours to indicate that the new device, which it calls the HTC One (M9), will come with a 5.2-inch WQHD display offering a pixel density of 564PPI, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 processor, 3GB of RAM and the 64-bit version of Android 5.0 Lollipop. Internal storage options could also include a 128GB one. A bigger battery and better camera also appears to be in the cards.

HTC is likely to continue using its metal unibody design. It may also make it dust and water resistant, a characteristic increasingly found on flagship and even mid-range smartphones.

We suggest that a very healthy pinch of salt be taken with this report about the next HTC flagship smartphone. While there are no wild and crazy claims here, it’s not clear where the rumours are coming from. The fact that it quotes from a concept device designer (as if they were from HTC) does not inspire much confidence either.
