Next Motorola smartphone to launch will be the Moto E?

Rumoured Moto E logo

We may have a name for that ultra-thin smartphone that Motorola is reportedly readying for launch next month. Identified so far as models XT1021, XT1022 and XT1025, it may launch as the Moto E. Supporting earlier reports that this device would, like the Moto G, strike a balance between an affordable price and decent specifications, Xataka Mexico suggests it will sell for between MX$2,999 and MX$3,199 (about CA$250 to CA$270) or slightly more than the Moto G did when it launched.

The report adds a few details to the specifications we saw earlier. It expects that the 4.3-inch display will sport an HD (720×1280) resolution and that the 4GB of internal memory will be expandable with microSD cards. Much like the Moto G, it will also come with back covers in a range of colours.

Rather than a smartphone cheaper than the Moto G, it appears that the Moto E could be positioned as an alternative to it. One of its key marketing characteristics is likely to be its thinness. At a mere 6.2 millimeters, it will be among the thinnest smartphones on the market.

The Moto E, likely in single SIM configuration (XT1021) is expected to launch in Mexico “in the coming weeks.” With dual-SIM variants also planned, it’s likely we will see the Moto E in other countries as well.
