Samsung Galaxy Gear 2 and Galaxy Gear 2 Neo revealed ahead of announcement? (Updated)

Rumoured Samsung Galaxy Gear 2 and Gear 2 Neo

Rumours have suggested that Samsung could unveil not one but two successors to its Galaxy Gear smartwatch. Despite the tepid reviews that it got, rumours suggest that Samsung is far from discouraged and in fact ready to double down on the emerging smartphone market. A report earlier this week suggested that we could see Samsung unveil more than one new Galaxy Gear at its MWC 2014 Unpacked event. We now have our first look at this second generation of wearables courtesy of the usually reliable @evleaks. He reveals two new devices, the Samsung Galaxy Gear 2 and the Galaxy Gear 2 Neo.

The oft-rumoured Samsung Galaxy Gear 2 is not a huge departure from its predecessor but appears slimmer and with narrower bezels.  They both appear to sport a new Home button as well. The Galaxy Gear 2 Neo is very similar and, based on the name alone, will likely be a cheaper alternative.

There are no details about specifications or software improvements to go with the images. The two have the same interface and presumably the same operating system. The image does little to prove or disprove an earlier rumour that Samsung is also working on a Tizen-powered smartwatch. Maybe there will be a third model.

With Samsung’s Unpacked5 event only days away, all should be revealed very soon.

Update: Two more tweets from @evleaks have given us a better image of the two watches as well as revealed that these new smartwatches may not launch under the Galaxy brand.

Could these be the new Tizen-powered smartwatches or is Samsung looking to distance these from the Galaxy Gear brand?
