Samsung unveils Galaxy S5 mini

Samsung Galaxy S5 miniSamsung today announced the Samsung Galaxy S5 mini, “a compact version of the Galaxy S5.” It has retained many of the sensors and features introduced with the Galaxy S5 back at Mobile World Congress, including the heart rate sensor, S Health and Ultra Power Saving mode. At the same time, a number of hardware specifications have been downgraded. For example, it comes with an 8MP camera rather than a 16MP one and there is less RAM.

“We always strive to develop devices that appeal to a range of consumer tastes and styles,” said JK Shin, CEO and Head of IT & Mobile Communication at Samsung Electronics. “The Galaxy S5 mini allows consumers to enjoy the iconic design and essential and useful features of the Galaxy S5 through a maximized minimalism approach.”
