Twin display YotaPhone2 to be unveiled on December 3

YotaPhone2

Yota Devices, a Russian smartphone company, unveiled its innovative YotaPhone1 back in 2013. Powered by Android, it sports a two display design with a traditional LCD panel on the front and an e-ink display on the back. The company today announced that it will unveil its successor, the aptly named YotaPhone2, on December 3 at an event in London.

Little is known about the YotaPhone2 at this point but an image confirms that it will once again sport two displays and will run on Android. It also sports a much more rounded design than its predecessor.

Yota’s website indicates that the YotaPhone2 will be available in Q4 2014, suggesting that it will launch shortly after its announcement. It remains to be seen if the YotaPhone2 will make it to North America. There is no word yet on pricing.

Yota made headlines in Canada earlier this summer than it announced that it was considering moving its headquarters to either Toronto or Waterloo. The company suggested that the possibility of hiring former BlackBerry employees was among the reasons for considering such a move. Its website now says that its “headquarter functions are spread between various offices in Germany, Canada, Finland, Singapore, and Russia.”
