Verizon to launch Moto X+1 on September 25?

Rumoured Moto X+1

Motorola said back at Mobile World Congress that the next-generation Moto X would be out by the end of the summer. A more specific launch date has proven elusive until now though. Sources told Droid-Life today that Verizon Wireless expects to launch the Moto X+1 on September 25.

Technically, that qualifies as an early fall launch rather than a late summer one but Motorola is likely to make an official announcement before then, essentially meeting its self-imposed deadline. It’s also possible that other carriers will launch the Moto X+1 earlier than Verizon, again allowing Motorola to meet its deadline.

While the report adds that it has no launch date for the Moto 360 smartwatch, past rumours suggested that Motorola is looking to launch both devices simultaneously through MotoMaker.

Variants of the Moto X+1 could launch with model numbers XT109x. The XT1096 model number recently appeared on a device box headed to Verizon while the XT1097 made an appearance on the Geekbench website.
