Video: Nokia teases Windows Phone announcement

NokiaNokia today released a short video teasing an upcoming Windows Phone announcement of some kind. As is so often with these kinds of teasers, there is very little to go on in the 16 second video.

With the sounds of an engine revving in the background, Nokia asks,”Have you heard what’s coming?” before telling us that the announcement will let us “See and hear what you’ve been missing.” The video concludes with the Nokia and Windows Phone logos, telling us that there is a Windows Phone connection to the announcement.

The video was posted on the NokiaUS YouTube account, a suggestion that the announcement is intended for the U.S. The Windows Phone logo and region effectively rule out the Nokia Normandy. It is more likely to be for the oft-rumoured Nokia 929, a smaller variant of the 6-inch Nokia Lumia 1520. Now expected to launch at Verizon as the Nokia Lumia Icon, it should launch with a 2.2GHz quad-core processor, a 5-inch Full HD (1080×1920) display and a 20MP PureView camera.

The Nokia Lumia Icon could make its debut alongside the already announced Treasure Tag Bluetooth accessory which has yet to hit the street.

It remains to be seen if Nokia’s teaser is for its MWC 2014 announcement where it could unveil new Windows Phone smartphones or the Android-powered Nokia X (also known as the Nokia Normandy).
