IFA 2015 will quickly be upon us. As in past years, a number of mobile device manufacturers are planning announcements at the event. Samsung has already announced that it will formally unveil its Gear S2 smartwatch on September 3rd. ASUS today announced that it will hold its press event on September 2nd. If the teaser video it released on Facebook is any indication, it could announce a new smartwatch at the event.
The video gives us a fairly long look at a diagonal view of the smartwatch. It also gives us a very, very brief glimpse at the whole watch (see below). In fact, it looks quite similar to the ASUS ZenWatch 2 that the company first announced at Computex earlier this year. This model comes with a metal bracelet rather than a leather one but the watch itself looks the almost same.
If it is indeed the ZenWatch 2, why go to all the trouble of teasing a device that it has already announced? One can hope ASUS does have a ZenWatch 3 waiting to be unveiled but it’s more likely that ASUS is just having a bit of fun with us.
Assuming that it is indeed the ASUS ZenWatch 2, the company will likely announce details such as availability and pricing at the event.
