CES 2015: Omate unveils Omate Racer and Omate Roma smartwatches

Omate Racer and RomaOmate, a U.S. company that launched its first smartwatch back in 2013, today unveiled two new models in its growing portfolio of connected watches. The Omate Racer and Omate Roma both sport round touchscreen displays albeit with a black bar at the bottom (like the Moto 360). Like the rest of Omate’s line, these new models focus exclusively on providing a notification system for a connected smartphone.

We believe that the most important device in our “connected life” is our smartphone. Therefore the real intelligence in a companion smartwatch is stored into our master smartphone. Our smartphone ecosystem is fully personalized according to our own personal needs and requirements. We have customized its interface, set up our own shortcuts, polished the look and feel of every folder and pages, downloaded tens of applications which matter to us.

With our 2015 collection, we allow you to bring this ecosystem – your World – to your wrist via the Omate management Android and iOS apps to link or disable your own personal apps and your system apps. Therefore, every Omate companion smartwatches pushes notifications from your personal content which is stored in your smartphone so you do not need to download the same app on your smartwatch and worry about losing any data and confidential information from your Omate smartwatch.

As the name implies, the Omate Racer (on the right above) is a sporty looking model while the Omate Roma (on the left) aims at the fashion-aware customer. Both use the MediaTek Aster (MT2502) chipset and connect to both Android and iOS devices via Bluetooth 4.0 LE.

Both run the Nucleus mobile operating system and support OTA updates via LinkIt, MediaTek’s wearables development platform.

The Omate Racer will be available for pre-order starting on January 5th at www.omate.com. It will be available for US$99 until January 15th when the price jumps to US$129. Pre-orders will begin shipping in late February.

Availability and pricing details were not announced today for the Omate Roma.
