Concept Sunday: HKI Watch

HKI Watch conceptDesigner Hasan Kaymak, better known for his smartphone concepts, earlier this year came up with the HTC One Watch 2015. While HTC has yet to release a smartwatch (or any other wearable for that matter), Kaymak has come up with a new smartwatch concept called the HKI Watch.

Whereas the HTC One Watch strove for a classic look reminiscent of many traditional watches, the HKI Watch features an edgier design. The convex dial looks to be made with a flexible display and curved glass. The case appears to be made of stainless steel and features narrow bezels and a grooved design. With a crown that looks to be inspired a gear, the watch has an industrial feel to it. A leather strap brings with it an element of sophistication.

No details are given as to the specifications of the HKI Watch. It sports a watch face that does little to tell us what operating system powers it.

Sub-dials display information such as the date and weather. They can also be used as controls, including music playback.

HKI Watch conceptThe HKI Watch concept hints at an exciting future for smartwatches. As they become more ubiquitous, manufacturers are likely to start exploring a range of designs and will eventually offer us a breadth of devices as rich as that of traditional timepieces.
