Former HTC Industrial Design VP Jonah Becker lands at Fitbit

2015 Fitbit lineupWe learned just over a week ago that HTC Industrial Design VP Jonah Becker had left the company after being in his latest role for less than a year. We found out today that he is headed to Fitbit where he take on the newly created position of vice president of industrial design and will report directly to CEO James Park.

Becker, who was responsible for the look and design of the HTC One M9, will now have the opportunity to jump into the wearables space. Past experience working on a range of fitness or sports related products and equipment while at design firm One & Co. (which HTC acquired back in 2008) for clients such as Adidas, Burton Snowboards, K2 Sports and Nike should serve him well in his new role.

Fitbit’s line of fitness-focused products have maintained a very similar look since the company launched its first products a few years back. It’s likely that Becker will look to update the look and design of future Fitbit products in an increasingly competitive wearables market.

Becker’s departure from HTC came shortly after Cher Wang took over as CEO from Peter Chou who stepped down to head up the company’s Future Development Lab
