Misfit, freshly acquired by the Fossil Group, has announced a new edition of its inexpensive Misfit Flash fitness tracker. The Misfit Flash Cyclist Edition is designed to be clipped onto a shoe to track all your cycling activities. It promises to make it easier “to train smarter, race faster, or track your weekend rides.”
Almost identical to the original, the Misfit Flash Cyclist Edition adds cadence-sensing capabilities required to track the pedaling motion of cyclists. It tracks revolutions per minute, distance and speed and map information. The data is delivered to your smartphone in real time, “giving you the information you need to boost performance during a ride.”
Unfortunately, the Misfit Cycling app is currently only available for iOS devices. Fortunately, it works with other popular cycling applications including Strava, MapMyRide, Wahoo and Cyclemeter. Note as well that the Misfit Cycling app is not compatible with the original Flash.
Like the regular Misfit Flash, the Cycling edition can pair with the Misfit flagship app and track steps taken, distance traveled, calories burned and sleep quality and duration. Like the Flash Link, it can also be used to trigger selfies or control your music.
Like the Flash Link, you can tap into the smart features letting you snap a selfie, control music playback and turn your lights off.
