Traditional watch sales appear to be facing some challenging times if recent numbers out of Switzerland are an indication of the state of the overall industry. At the same time, new watch brands continue to regularly pop up on the horizon. Many now turn to crowdfunding to launch their collections. The latest to do so is Draxas, the latest brand from Griffin Emblem.
The Draxas 1500 collection consists of four watches, three calendar models and a chronograph. Rather than using an automatic mechanical movement like the Griffin Emblem, they use a quartz movement “in consideration of the weight, thickness and daily convenience.”

Draxas met its crowdfunding goal within 48 hours of the campaign kicking off. It later met its stretch goal, adding luminous hands.
The Draxas campaign is now nearing the end but you still have a few days to fund the project and get yourself a new watch. Shipments are scheduled to start in December so it could also be a Christmas gift for a watch-lover you know.
The Draxas calendar watches can be yours for US$149 (about CA$200). The chronograph is available for US$159 (about CA$210). Metal straps are an additional US$39 (about CA$50).
