New Pebble smartwatch with colour display revealed?

Rumoured colour display Pebble smartwatchPebble last week began to tease some kind of announcement for Tuesday, February 24. Rumours quickly followed that Pebble would release a new Pebble smartwatch with a thinner design and, for the first time, a colour display. An image found on Pebble’s own website today appears to have confirmed these rumours.

The sole image is a front view of the new device an only a few details can be gleaned from it. The display sports a yellow background, effectively confirming it will use colour, and suggests that the resolution may not be particularly high.

The image does not shed any light on other expected features such as a microphone, a new Cortex M4 processor, a 6-axis gyroscope and an improved backlight.

The image also does little to confirm whether the new Pebble smartwatch will sport a completely new operating system as those same earlier rumours have suggested.

It’s also impossible to tell whether the new Pebble smartwatch will be larger or smaller than current ones as there is no information to give us a sense of size. It does appear though that the bezels will be larger while the buttons will be smaller.

Based on the countdown on Pebble’s website, some kind of announcement will take place tomorrow, February 25 at 1000 ET. Today’s find gives credence to it being the unveiling of a new Pebble smartwatch.

Update: The gig is up; Pebble is on to us. The image of the new Pebble smartwatch has been replaced by yet another new model:

Is this the new Pebble smartwatch?
