Pebble yesterday announced to Kickstarter backers that it will begin to ship the Pebble Time Steel, essentially a metal version of the Pebble Time, the last week of July. Production began yesterday and the company expects that all reward watches will be produced this month.
While production will be completed this month, Pebble also expects that the last of the Pebble Time Steel backers will not receive their shipment notifications until the end of August. Pebble acknowledged that it is somewhat behind on its original schedule but it is looking to “get everything shipped as fast as possible.”
Rewards will ship with both a leather band and a matching steel band although they may ship separately due to limited initial availability. When the Pebble Time Steel hits retail later on, it will only come with the leather band. Metal bands available as additional accessories.
Much as we saw with the Pebble Time shipments, Pebble Time Steel shipments will occur via the following shippers:
- US Pebble Time rewards will ship via USPS.
- Standard non-US shipments will ship to destination countries via Singpost.
- Expedited non-US shipments will travel via the courier listed in your Reward Portal.
For those who missed out on the Kickstarter campaign, Pebble is expected to open up retail pre-orders following the Pebble Time Steel reward shipments much as it has already done for the Pebble Time.
