Vector Watch is gearing up for the general launch of its Vector Luna and Vector Meridian smartwatches. The new company first unveiled its smartwatches which offer up to 30 days of battery life at Baselworld 2015 back in March. Limited edition versions of both models were offered and quickly snapped up.
The Vector Luna and Meridian smartwatches are once more available for pre-order but only for customers in the UK. Four models are currently up for grabs. The 44mm Vector Luna with stainless steel case is available with either a solid stainless steel 3 link bracelet or black leather strap for £299 (about US$465 or CA$610). The 40.5mm Vector Meridian is available with either a matte IP black case and brown leather strap or with a stainless steel case with black leather strap for £219 (about US$340 or CA$450). All will begin shipping on September 30th.
Vector’s smartwatches achieve their long battery life by using a monochrome display that is always on, “doing what a watch should do – giving you the time and information you need at a glance.” They use a proprietary operating system that is compatible with Android, iOS and Windows Phone. They support usual smartwatch features such as notifications for incoming messages and social media updates, calendar reminders and activity tracking (steps taken, calories burned, distance traveled and sleep monitoring).
While Vector had originally announced that general sales would begin in September, it now expects that they will begin in October. Sales will initially be limited to shipment to the UK and to the U.S. The company does promise that additional markets will be announced “shortly.”
When general sales begin, the four current models will be joined by additional variants, including one more Meridian model also selling for £219 (about US$340 or CA$450) and five more Luna ones with prices ranging from £299 to £349 (from about US$465 or CA$610 to US$460 or CA$715). U.S. pricing has not been announced yet.
