Fossil introduced two new Android Wear smartwatches, the Fossil Q Marshal and Q Wander, at Baselworld 2016. The company at the time promised a launch in either late summer or early fall. Yesterday, it announced that both will go on sale on August 29th with pre-orders to start later this week.
“Q Wander and Q Marshal beautifully marry form and function for a stunning addition to your everyday style,” said Jill Elliott, chief creative officer. “Fossil is known for its quality timepieces and we’re proud of the seamless expansion to our wearables collection. These slim yet highly functional smartwatches reflect the elevated design of a Fossil watch while incorporating a digital experience that’s important to today’s customer.”
While Fossil originally promised both 44mm and 46mm models, it now appears that both will only be available with 45mm cases. The Q Wander promises a “beautiful soft curving, multi-finish case with artfully sculpted wire lugs” while the Q Marshall will feature a striking rugged case.” Both support wireless charging as well as a range of interchangeable straps in leather and silicone as well as stainless steel bracelets. Powered by Android Wear, they come with always-on displays and a haptic sensor that vibrates when you receive a notification.
Sadly, it appears from press images that at both will come with a “flat tire” display design where a black bar cuts off a small portion of the display.
Pre-orders for the Fossil Q Marshal and Q Wander begin on August 12th. They will be available starting on August 29th in Fossil stores and Fossil’s online store. Prices start at US$295 (about CA$385).
