Pokémon Go officially lands in Canada

Pokémon GOPokémon Go launched in the U.S. and a small number of other countries a week ago. Since then, it has become one of the most popular and downloaded games of all times. There is good news today for Canadians eagerly awaiting their chance to download the game without having to sideload it. Nintendo today announced that Pokémon Go is now officially available in Canada from the official Google Play and Apple App stores.

Venusaur, Charizard, Blastoise, Pikachu, and many other Pokémon have been discovered on planet Earth! Now’s your chance to discover and capture the Pokémon all around you—so get your shoes on, step outside, and explore the world. You’ll join one of three teams and battle for the prestige and ownership of Gyms with your Pokémon at your side.

Pokémon are out there, and you need to find them. As you walk around a neighborhood, your smartphone will vibrate when there’s a Pokémon nearby. Take aim and throw a Poké Ball… You’ll have to stay alert, or it might get away!

The augmented reality game has quickly established itself as a phenomenon. It already boasts more than 25 million daily active players in the U.S. alone. That’s more than both Tinder and Twitter! Players are also on average spending more than 43 minutes playing the game each day. That’s a higher rate than popular apps like Instagram, Snapchat and Whatsapp.

Pokémon GO Plus

The Pokémon GO Plus wearable that will make it easier to catch all those Pocket Monsters is expected to launch soon but there are no specific details yet.

Pokémon Go is a free download for Android and iOS smartphones.
