Samsung last year refocused its smartwatch efforts on what was effectively a single device, the Gear S2 (pictured above). It built a collection around it, including the luxurious Gear S2 by de GRISOGONO. All models featured a round dial with rotating bezel. It now appears that it will use the same approach when it unveils its next generation of smartwatches later this summer. SamMobile reports that Samsung will unveil the Gear S3 at IFA 2016.
Details about the Samsung Gear S3 are still slim but the report does add that it will retain the rotating bezel. A few other details have recently also come to light courtesy of other reports.
Italian technology journalist Antonio Monaco adds that the Gear S3 will include a GPS chipset. He also believes that it will introduced at IFA 2016.

Meanwhile, corporate solicitor Brian Conroy came across a European trademark filing for the “Gear S3 Frontier.” It suggests that the Samsung Gear S3 collection will consist of a number of different models. Assuming it is none other than the device codenamed Solis, multiple models are almost a certainty.
IFA 2016 will run from September 2nd to the 7th. If last year was any indication, Samsung may host its press event a few days ahead of it to unveil its latest smartwatch along with other new devices.
