The latest iPhone and iPod rumours

Apple

Two new Apple rumours are floating about today. The first concerns upcoming iPods and the second is about a nano iPhone.

Piper Jaffray predicts that the multi-touch widescreen interface of the iPhone will make its way down to the iPod before MacWorld 2008. Essentially, this new iPod would look a lot like the iPhone but lack the phone and data connections. Like the iPhone, it would run Mac OS X.

JP Morgan analyst Kevin Chang believes that a recent Apple patent for an interface similar to the current scroll wheel but incorporating multifunction (including phone) controls is a sign that a slimmer iPhone is coming. And he indicates that unspecified people in the supply channel apparently support this as well.

This smaller iPhone would have fewer features than its big brother but would also be cheaper (perhaps US$300 or lower).
