Microsoft to announce Windows Mobile 6.1 on April 1st?

Windows Mobile

If Pocket Lint sources are right, Microsoft will announce Windows Mobile 6.1 on April 1st. It just so happens that Robbie Bach, Microsoft President, Entertainment & Devices Division, is giving a keynote address at the CTIA Wireless conference.

Windows Mobile 6.1 is a small evolution over the current Windows Mobile 6 operating system which was released last year. The leaked information showed that it had a cleaner user interface and new features like threaded SMS, a zoom feature for Pocket Internet Explorer, and information on CPU and process utilization.

If the announcement does take place (and this is not an early cruel April Fools’ joke), we could see some new devices unveiled as well. And perhaps manufacturers will also start to outline which current devices will receive upgrades.
