HTC CEO Peter Chou took to the stage today to deliver HTC’s promised “major news announcement” today. It turns out that HTC let the cat out of the bag earlier today with its announcement of a strategic partnership and investment with Beats Electronics, the company behind Beats by Dr. Dre.
Prior to the announcement, many had expected that HTC might announce more “major.” Some predictions included that it would settle its patent lawsuit with Apple or announce a major acquisition of another company or of itself by another company.
Am I the only one thinking that HTC was a bit too dramatic with its announcement yesterday?
