As expected, Samsung and Google today unveiled the world’s first Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) smartphone, the Galaxy Nexus.

We will continue to move forward with Android to provide the compelling consumer experience in mobile world,” said JK Shin, President and Head of Samsung’s Mobile Communications Business.

Like the Nexus S, the Galaxy Nexus features a curved display and a Hyperskin battery cover, promising a soft-touch non-slip backing.
The Galaxy Nexus will launch in early November in the US, Europe and Asia. The only carrier announced was NTT DoCoMo in Japan but other “strategic partners” are promised. There is no word yet on a Canadian launch.
