While most Galaxy Nexus owners have already received Android 4.1 Jelly Bean upgrades, Canadian owners of the device have been stuck on version 4.0.1. That looked like it might change today when many received update notifications (including ours). Unfortunately, the update is only taking them all the way from Android 4.0.1 to 4.0.2.
The Canadian version of the Galaxy Nexus carries a different model number (yakjuux) than the international version (yakju) and the model offered by Google through Google Play (takju). One key difference between the versions is that Google does not provide the yakjuux updates; those come directly from Samsung.
Could it be that Samsung had to update Canadian Galaxy Nexus devices to 4.0.2 to ensure a smooth update to 4.1? Let’s hope that this is a sign that 4.1 is coming soon…
