HTCSense.com shutting down for upgrade

HTCHTC today announced that it will be shutting down its HTC Sense portal, HTCSense.com, to do some renovations to “improve the services and value we deliver to customers like you.” As part of its overhaul, HTC will be deleting all existing data. It is giving users just over a month to download their data or lose it.

Until the new services are ready, features previously available on HTCSense.com will be shutting down. If you have been using HTCSense.com to sync your Contacts, Messages, Footprints or Call History, you can download your data through April 30, 2012. After April 30, your data will no longer be accessible and will be deleted.

It’s not clear at this time what services will be offered when its HTC Sense portal relaunches. HTC has promised that existing customers will be “among the first to know when the new and improved services are ready.”

HTC originally launched HTCSense.com back in 2010. It offered a backup service, location services (to find your phone if you have misplaced or lost your phone), contact management, a selection of tested applications, and more.
