Acer updates Aspire R7 hybrid tablet

Acer Aspire R7Earlier this year, Acer unveiled the Aspire R7, a hybrid device described as a “notebook designed for touch.” Its came with an innovative “Ezel Hinge” that allows it to flip, reverse, lie flat or float to transform into a tablet, a desktop computer as well as a laptop. Acer has now updated the specifications of this innovative device with the new R7-572-6423 model.

While the overall design remains unchanged, Acer has upgraded a number of the internal components. Key among them are a new 1.60GHz dual-core Intel Core i5-4200U processor, 8GB of RAM (up from 6GB) and a 1TB 5400RPM hard drive. It did lose the 24GB SSD cache though. It also comes with Windows 8.1 pre-installed.

Another new feature is the addition of an active digitizer to the touchscreen display. Unfortunately, the Acer active stylus is sold separately for an additional US$49.
