BlackBerry planning at least four more devices

While most of the BlackBerry news these days is about its imminent sale, possibly in pieces, the company is still in operation and is still trying to turn its fortunes around. Yesterday it unveiled the new BlackBerry Z30 and the launch within days of BBM for Android and iPhone and more is planned for the future. According to N4BB sources, at least four more devices are currently in the works.

Little is known about these devices but we have their codenames:

  • Cafe / Cappuccino
  • Windermere
  • Tigris
  • Ontario

One of these could be an updated version of the BlackBerry Z30 with a quad-core processor. Early rumours about the BlackBerry Aristo’s specifications suggested that it would come with a 1.5GHz quad-core Qualcomm APQ8064 processor (along with a smaller 4.65-inch display) so BlackBerry may not have given up on this design.

It’s likely that we will not see any of these devices until 2014. BlackBerry’s own future will also dictate what happens to these devices but we’re hoping that BlackBerry is with us for a while yet.
