Samsung Youm conceptSmartwatches are a hot topic these days. Much as we have seen smartphone displays grow over the years, it’s likely that we’ll see a similar trend in wearable technology especially as flexible display technology matures. Among the more popular smartwatches today are the Pebble with a 1.26-inch e-paper display and the Sony Smartwatch 2 and Samsung Galaxy Gear with 1.6 and 1.63-inch displays respectively. That’s not a lot of space to present certain types of information. A concept called the Samsung Youm smartwatch by Ian Nott gives us a glimpse at this new class of wearable technology could look like in a few years.

Inspired by the brand name that Samsung will market its flexible glass displays, the Samsung Youm smartwatch sports an AMOLED flexible display that wraps around more than half your wrist. The device is powered by Google Android and voice is clearly a key feature. With functionality similar to Motorola’s Touchless Control, it could respond to voice commands. It also uses an iOS like badges notifications to let you know about emails or voice mail messages.
