Qualcomm Toq smartwatch now available for pre-order

There is good news today for those looking to get their hands on a Qualcomm Toq smartwatch. Initially set to launch on December 2, Qualcomm today began taking pre-orders for the black version of its smartwatch. It expects to begin shipping these within one to three weeks.

With the revolutionary Qualcomm Mirasol display technology, the Qualcomm Toq smartwatch delivers greater visibility to what you need to know, when you need to know it. Clearly visible even in direct sunlight and so power efficient that you can go multiple days between charges, Qualcomm Toq seamlessly delivers alerts, messages and updates from your Android smartphone to your wrist.

The Qualcomm Toq is powered by a 200MHz Cortex M3 processor and its own proprietary operating system. Battery life is expected to be measured in a number of days. It is designed to complement Android smartphones (version 4.0.3 or higher required with Jelly Bean and above “preferred”), providing various notifications and remote control functionality such as music playback and basic call management.

As expected, the Qualcomm Toq is available for US$349.99 but only the black model can be pre-ordered for now. The white version is still listed as “coming soon.” The price includes the Qualcomm WiPower LE wireless charger (pictured below). Qualcomm also reassured prospective buyers that they would only be charged when their order ships.

Unfortunately, it appears that Qualcomm will only ship to the U.S. That leaves Canada and the rest of the world out in the cold for now.
