TELUS Mobility to launch Nokia Lumia 1020 and Lumia 625

TELUS

We learned yesterday that the Nokia Lumia 1020 was coming to Canada via Rogers Wireless. But initial predictions that Rogers would be the exclusive Canadian carrier have proven to be shortlived. TELUS today told MobileSyrup that it will also carry the latest Nokia flagship smartphone. And TELUS customers will also be able to pick up the Lumia 625, Nokia’s largest Windows Phone device with its 4.7-inch display, if they prefer.

The news that Nokia’s flagship smartphone will not be a carrier exclusive suggests that we could also see it on other Canadian carriers when it hits Canada later this fall.

There are no specific availability and pricing details yet. We can expect both carriers to launch the Nokia Lumia 1020 around the same time sometime in October. While pricing has not been announced, the fact that the Lumia 1020 is currently available from AT&T for US$299.99 with a two-year contract suggests it will not be an inexpensive device when it launches here. Fortunately, the Lumia 625 should be friendlier to the pocket book.
