64GB Nexus 5 to launch alongside Google Nexus X?

Google NexusWhile our attention is focused on IFA 2014 and all the new device announcements coming out of Berlin, an interesting rumour has surfaced about the upcoming launch of new Nexus devices. Last week, we heard that Google could launch two Nexus devices built by Motorola, the 5.9-inch Nexus X and a smaller 5.2-inch model. A separate rumour this week suggests we could see two devices but that the Nexus X would be accompanied by an upgraded Nexus 5 with 64GB of internal storage instead.

According to TK Tech News‘ source, the new Nexus 5 will be offered as a cheaper alternative to the new Google Nexus X. Based on specifications alone, it may well be that the new Nexus device will not be as cheap as past models were. It is also possible that Google is looking to offer a smaller alternative as the Nexus X could be a fairly large device thanks to its 5.9-inch display.

The 64GB Nexus 5 will presumably come with Android L (Lemon Meringue Pie?) preloaded much as the Nexus X and HTC-built Nexus 9 tablet will when they launch.

This is still nothing but rumour so take it with a healthy pinch of salt for now. We’ll keep you posted as further developments come up.
