BlackBerry Z3, Jakarta Edition, goes on sale on May 15

BlackBerry Z3BlackBerry formally unveiled the BlackBerry Z3, Jakarta Edition at a launch event today in Jakarta, Indonesia. Already available for pre-order since late May, it will finally go on sale in Indonesia on May 15. The BlackBerry Z3 is the first device to emerge from BlackBerry’s partnership with Foxconn and is billed as the first BlackBerry to be “Built for Indonesia.” It will be carried by both Indosat and XL.

In Jakarta, Indonesia to launch BlackBerry Z3, Jakarta Edition, John Chen, Executive Chairman and CEO, BlackBerry, said: “BlackBerry has changed the way millions of people around the world stay connected. The BlackBerry Z3 will sell for IDR2,199,000 (about CA$210). It will be available at all BlackBerry Lifestyle stores in Indonesia as well as authorized partners for BlackBerry Z3, PT. Teletama Artha Mandiri (TAM) and PT. Mitra Telekomunikasi Selular (MTS).

BlackBerry does have larger aspirations for the BlackBerry Z3 and it will likely eventually launch in other markets. An LTE model is also planned and could be headed to North America later.
