Concept Sunday: The Apple iWatch by Benjamin Schuster

Apple iWatch conceptWith Apple now expected to unveil its iWatch at its press event on September 9, it is only fitting that we take a look at one more concept of what this much anticipated device could look like. Apple may not be quite up to the task of delivering Benjamin Schuster’s vision this time around but if there is one company that you would expect to pull off such a concept, it would be Apple.

Hardware details are slim but the concept reveals a different watch form factor where the display juts out from the bracelet. The display is flexible, being able to bend both upwards and downwards. Connectivity options include both Bluetooth and Wi-Fi. A variety of colours are offered. It’s not clear though if the display module would pop out of the band (like the Sony SmartWatch 3) so that it can be inserted into a different band or if each is standalone.

The interface will be very familiar to anyone who has used iOS in the past. The usual icons show up in a smaller two by three grid. Even the ever-present Apple Home button is there.

While the upcoming iWatch may not be quite as exciting as this concept, Schuster has certainly managed to give us a glimpse at what smartwatches could look like when they move beyond the current watch form factor.
