Is this the Google Nexus 9?

Rumoured Google Nexus 9

Information about Google’s next Nexus tablet continues to surface ahead of its expected unveiling later this month. The larger tablet, known as the Google Nexus 9 along with a variety of codenames such as Flounder and Volantis, is expected to be built by HTC. We now have an alleged image of the back of it courtesy of Chinese leaker @upleaks.

The image reveals a device, apparently an engineering prototype, that inherits many design elements from the Google Nexus 5. Whereas many expected a metal frame, it appears instead to have a metal-free “matte plastic” finish like the Google Nexus 5. It also has the same vertical Nexus logo and very similar camera assembly tucked in the top left corner. You can also see a smaller HTC logo at the bottom.

The Google Nexus 9 just cleared the FCC, suggesting that an announcement is not far now. Recent rumours expect it to happen sometime in mid-October with sales to begin in early November.

The Google Nexus 9 is expected to come with a 64-bit NVIDIA Tegra K1 processor, Android L, 4GB of RAM, GPS, dual-band Wi-Fi a/b/gn/ac, Bluetooth 4.0 LE, NFC, an 8MP camera with Sony IMX219 sensor and a front 1.6MP camera. We expect to see Wi-Fi only as well as models with cellular connectivity.
