Kazam unveils first LTE smartphone with Kazam Thunder2 4.5L

Kazam Thunder2 4.5LDo you remember Kazam, the smartphone company founded by two former HTC executives? It launched its first smartphones late last year. It announced an update to its lineup this week and unveiled its first LTE smartphone, the Kazam Thunder2 4.5L, along a slightly larger Thunder2 5.0 (without LTE) and new mid-range Trooper 2 models.

Like its previous generation of smartphones, none of these new models will impress with their specifications. Kazam remains focused being “obsessive about quality, relevant technology, and disruptive pricing.”

Here are the announced Kazam Thunder 2 4.5L specifications:

  • Processor: 1.2GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 400
  • Operating system: Google Android 4.3 Jelly Bean
  • Cellular connectivity: 4G LTE
  • Display: 4.5-inch FWVGA (480×854)
  • RAM: 1GB
  • Internal storage: 8GB
  • Rear-facing camera: 8MP
  • Front-facing camera: 2MP

The Thunder2 5.0 offers a larger 5.0-inch HD (720×1280) display and 13MP rear camera and 5MP front camera. But it does not support LTE. It also comes with a 1.3GHz quad-core processor, the even older Android 4.2 Jelly Bean and 4GB of storage.

The Trooper2 series, essentially four variants with the same specifications except for the display, will come with a 1.3GHz dual-core processor, 512MB of RAM and 4GB of onboard storage. The variants come with 4-, 4.5-i, 5- and 6-inch displays, all with slightly different resolutions but all below HD.

Kazam Trooper2 lineup

All the new Kazam smartphones come with a free screen replacement should the screen crack in the first year (a move that HTC is now mimicking) and Kazam Rescue, an app that lets the Kazam support team remotely access the device to help with setup issues and resolve issues.

The new Kazam smartphones will launch in Europe in the coming months in a “phased” manner. It is unlikely that we will see these new Kazam smartphones in North America.
