Moto Stream turns regular speakers into Bluetooth ones

Moto Stream

More and more of us listen to music on our smartphones and tablets when we are on the go. Motorola today announced the Moto Stream to make it easier to listen that same device through a (hopefully) better sound system when we get home.

The Moto Stream is a portable wireless adaptor that plugs into your existing speaker or stereo system. Once connected, you can connect your device via Bluetooth to it and play your music through your home stereo system. Up to five different devices can be connected to Moto Stream.

Play music from the song library on your phone or launch apps like Google Play, Pandora, and Spotify. With Moto Stream you can wirelessly listen to your favorite songs in all their glory from your home stereo system – no expensive upgrade required.

The Moto Stream also comes with a Heist Mode. If one of the other devices is playing a song you don’t like, you can heist it (and possibly face the ire of the person grooving to that song but that’s another matter).

The Moto Stream is a icosahedron (multi-faceted) with five front facets with light indicators. It connects to your stereo through a 3.5mm to RCA connector and is compatible with 3.5mm to 3.5mm connectors. It weighs all of 100 grams and measures 69 by 60 by 57 millimeters. It works over Bluetooth 3.0 and offers up to 300 feet of range when paired with a Bluetooth Class 1 phone.

The Moto Stream is available starting today in the U.S. at Motorola.com for US$49.99. It will also hit Radio Shack on June 6. There is no word yet on availability in Canada or other markets.
